Go Outside and Make $X?
...not as easy as it looks!
How many times have you read, or been told, that when you need a little extra money to just go outside and do something
and problem is solved? Like in a video game supposedly there are people just standing there that need a window washed,
a driveway shoveled, or a lost pet to be searched for.
I will tell you that the older you get the more awkward it is, basically past being a teenager it seems that people find it highly suspect and obnoxious.
Another doozy has been when one of my kids is sitting in heavy contemplation and when I ask them what is going on they reply: “Dad, how do I make money?”
Every single time I have a deer in the headlights experience. I think about what if I was asking the question. I think of how I have to go on a job hunt binge,
endless Indeed and LinkedIn searching, having to track applications, get my resume to be human eye catching while also being able to traverse AI, and then the
futility of it all gauging from experience that it is really knowing someone on the inside of some company to get any traction.
Tack on that the interview process, I won’t belabor it, but if I needed some extra money now, it is simply not happening.
I really start to look at myself as a husband and father and just overall person in need of some money…
If I really needed, could I go outside and make $100 today? No?
$50? No?
$10?
$5 A measly $5 No?!
I (we -> if you are like me) need to fix this. It seems that it is not tenable to “just walk outside” and can start earning money. People are use to being fully
informed, given even minute detail of what the service being offered is, when the payment is due, and have some sort of deep trusting relationship (despite society
is more and more transactional).
So I need to fix this, build a brand (this ThrownWolf site), build a report with people locally, be able to produce value without introducing myself fresh while
everyone looks at me like a con man.
What am I to do? What are you to do?
I don’t know...I really don’t.
But I do know that waiting around to see what might happen is not the best idea (sometimes it is, but that is a case by case basis). So I will be mucking about trying
to find out what life has in store for me.
As I figure it out I will link those things here!
